Facebook Buying Instagram for $1 Billion

Facebook took steps Monday to bolster its mobile strategy, acquiring popular photo-sharing application Instagram for about $1 billion in cash and stock.
The purchase, the social network's largest and the most expensive by far for a smart-phone app, gives Facebook a company that's adept at producing mobile apps as well as a passionate community of more than 30 million users. Apple will launch a new version of iPad

Just six days have elapsed since the unveiling of Apple's third-generation iPad, and the rumor mill is already wildly speculating about what's in store for the next one. Korea Times has quoted an unnamed (yeah) Samsung official who has said that we can expect a 7.85-inch version of the tablet to arrive by the end of the year. As usual, it's fair to point out that the company is famous for producing a wide variety of prototypes, so we won't be delaying that pre-order. On firmer ground, they mentioned that as a key component supplier to the iPad, the Korean giant will earn around $10 billion manufacturing Cupertino's NAND flash chips, displays, mobile DRAM and processors -- so no matter who wins the tablet wars, the manufacturing conglomerate will probably do quite well.

Foxconn hires a lifestyle manager

Foxconn hires a lifestyle manager who will be responsible for conditions at the company’s dormitories, canteens and health departments, according to the advertisement. The safety and security post requires a college degree in criminal investigation or legal- related disciplines, while the fire chiefs must have at least four years of related experience.

The new iPad performances

According to early benchmarks, Apple’s new iPad features 1GB of memory, but CPU performance was not improved over the last version.

Sony Xperia sola

So, it turns out the sola isn't a US-specific version of the Xperia S after all, but a new handset in its own right -- albeit one we've already seen under the "Pepper" codename.
